Great feeding device
I am very excited about this device. It does what it's supposed to do and runs at the set times and the Nutri View looks good and solid. The camera is of surprisingly good quality.
It would have been useful if I could see exactly how much “1 portion” is. Now I had to do manual feeding, take that out of the bowl and then weigh it to determine how many portions the cat should receive.
I also regret that I cannot turn off the bell in the (iOS) app. It should be in the settings of the device I read somewhere, but I don't come across this option. The bell itself is very handy and our cat responds to it after 2 days, but I would like to switch off the bell early in the morning.
It would also be a nice nice-to-have if something more could be taken out of the camera. For example, setting the camera to automatically film when motion is detected. The camera is there anyway.. and it can be useful if you are not at home and suddenly someone else is there than a cat ;-)
Got the automatic feeder as my Maine Coon does not want to negotiate on breakfast times… His dry kibble is quite large, which, unfortunately, poses quite a challenge to the feeder about 30% of the time. The kibble bits tend to either get stuck in the mill and dispense either one, two, or no pieces—yet still register that as a successful feed. Sometimes the feeder also claims to be run out of kibble, when it is half full. So that still results in an unhappy hungry cat…Other 70% of the time when the kibble dispenses smoothly, everyone is quite happy. Setup with app was easy as we already have the water fountain as well.
And last but not least:
if you trust your wifi this is a great device. It suited us and our hangovers just fine. After a KPN outage, however, I did not return to the WiFi. I think a (maybe minor) defect in the device. Normally would have had it repaired but bought via bol.com and then returning is easier..... Incidentally, the customer service was really top, with prompt response even on weekends.
just to add: the device worked great, males ran to it when they heard the food roll into the bowl. Nice to see. But now apparently a persistent malfunction in the WiFi connection. Wifi light is on immediately and constantly and I can't get it to blink, not even elsewhere. A hard reset to the factory settings seems the right way, if not, then unfortunately it has to be returned....
